Creating A Healthy Household: How Fit Mother Jessica Got Her Whole Family Fit and Healthy

creating a healthy household

Are you struggling with creating a healthy household? Getting yourself on track with health and fitness is hard enough.

Add in your family (and home, work, and life), and it can seem impossible!

But it can be done!

Fit Mother Jessica is a 37-year-old mother of four, who’s found a way to get her whole household healthy.

Jessica and her husband Rusty have used the Fit Mother Project and Fit Father Project to level up their family’s health, dial in their nutrition, and get everyone stronger and more toned.

And it's some simple stuff that they did to get everyone on track.

The basics executed consistently lead to vibrant health, and this family is absolutely doing it!

It’s just an incredible story of what can happen when a whole family gets huddled together around a simple and sustainable health plan.

Dealing With A Busy and Hectic Life

Like many of today's moms, Jessica leads a busy life with her four kids, whom she also homeschools.

She joined the Fit Mother Project following her husband's Fit Father journey.

“He joined the Fit Father Project first. So in 2021, he was reading some of the materials. Then, when the transformation contest came around, he got really serious and wanted to become healthy. So he asked me if I wanted to join the Fit Mother Project, and I said sure!”

More than losing weight, Jessica's goal was to become healthy.

“I was at a place where I felt I could stand to lose like 10 or 15 pounds to get to my ideal weight, but it wasn't necessary like I needed to lose a lot of weight. So I just wanted to get healthier.”

She shares her mission statement and the factors that motivated her to get set with the program.

“There were two main things that were driving me. One is to be the best I can be as a mom, wife, and human. I wanted to strive toward that, and I felt that continuing my health journey would help. Secondly, I was crying out for the nutrition side of it because we had no concept of eating healthy and the whys of making better food choices. I wanted to know not just what to eat but why to eat that way.”

Creating A Healthy Household

The Fit Mother Project helped Jessica live up to her mission statement.

“The program worked out well. It gave me exactly what I was looking for. My team is my nutritionist support, but the programs also equip us to be our guide. The program is geared for everyone and adapts to individual journeys.”

Jessica incorporated simple food items into her routine to keep up with the program's nutrition plan.

She also fed her kids healthier foods and set them up for success.

Jessica and Rusty have tried several fitness programs before with far fewer benefits.

With the help of the Fit Mother Project, Jessica lost 19 pounds and became slim and toned.

“I love it because I look like how I wanted to look ideally. We've tried different things in the past. I liked some of them, but I would stay sore all the time. But I never quite got the muscle I wanted. So I walked or jogged three to five days a week, but I still weighed 10 times heavier.”

She explains what she likes the most about the program.

“Two months into the program, I saw that 13 pounds were gone. I didn't even realize how self-conscious I was in my shirts until I didn't feel like I had a belly. So my workout was doing something. I think adding the nutrition on top of that made a huge difference. I've enjoyed the muscle and weight workouts.”

According to Jessica, the program has sparked several internal changes.

“I think the program impacted me internally in two main ways. One is that it taught me not to settle for where I'm at because, like with nutrition, I didn't know the next step to take. The second is learning the basics of health and nutrition. Getting hooked up in the right program and stuff has made a huge difference. Now my life looks so much different in the area of health. It makes me think about what other areas of my life I am just settling at. Also, what steps can I start taking to improve them.”

So what would Jessica say to someone looking to join the Fit Mother Project?

“I would say, take it one step at a time. Think each day about what you can do today. Strive to make it better than yesterday. For example, we did a lot of snacking, maybe after dinner one week. So think about how we can do better this week. You can do this by little steps like brushing your teeth or going ahead and drinking some hot tea. And like I said earlier, don't just settle for where you are. Whether it's nutrition or workout, don't settle if you are unhappy. So start the program and read through the material. Start learning everything because that's the foundation for everything. Take that first step.”

3 Key Takeaways From Jessica's Journey

To summarize, here are three key lessons you can learn from Jessica’s successful health and fitness journey:

Lesson 1: Get Everyone In Your House On The Same Page

Jessica and Rusty built a healthier lifestyle for themselves and involved their kids in their health and fitness journey.

They successfully set their kids up for a healthier future from a young age.

Children learn faster at a younger age, and positive childhood habits tend to endure long term.

Lesson 2: Don't Focus On The Number On The Scale

For Jessica, her priority was fitness more than weight loss.

It is understandable if you want or need to lose weight.

But don't compromise your physical and emotional health just for a number on the scale.

Getting fit and healthy includes several non-scale victories (NSVs), and those should be embraced throughout your journey.

Lesson 3: Take Your Time And Find What Works For YOU

Don’t rush into joining a health and fitness program.

Remember, not every fitness program that works for someone else may work for you, and vice versa.

Instead of succumbing to a mob mentality and ending up on fad diets, listen to your body and understand what it needs
